Teignmouth & Dawlish Ramblers

Walking in South Devon

Message Board

Unfortunately we have had to change the Evening Walk planned for Wednesday 25th July as the Manager of The Pig and Whistle Pub has refused us permission to park in his car park
Instead the walk is as follows:

Meet 7.0 pm Viaduct Dawlish (GR 964765) for a walk along Lady's Mile to Dawlish Warren returning along the seawall. About 3 miles
Leader Anne Mc

PLEASE NOTE the Walk originally planned for 25th will become a Tea Shop Walk on 1st September - with a different start point (ie the Berry Pomeroy Castle Car park)

Programme

The Programme for the period May-July will be soon be with you. We have a full and varied short and evening walk programme, with only one gap in the evening walks, so if there are any potential new leaders out there who would like an intro to leading this would be an ideal opportunity to lead a walk in an area you know well with lots of friendly support to keep you on the right track.

Unfortunately there are a few gaps in the long programme, without more long walk leaders, we are struggling to have a full long walks programme. So please try and lead a long walk. The walk programme will be sent out with this news letter

Data Protection Act

You may be aware by now that the Data protection laws are changing and Ramblers have to comply with these changes. In the near future you will be receiving a communication from Ramblers HQ informing you of your options as to how you are communicated by the Ramblers and the T & D. So please could you give thought to the question and its implications. If you opt out of receiving emails this may impact on the information reaching you in time, such as, walk cancellations and venue changes.

Breaking News

Deborah is to stand down from the Secretary’s position at the AGM in November. She has put a lot of work into the running of the club over the last 4 years in her role, and has our heartfelt thanks. So we are seeking nominations for the position of secretary and hope that someone will feel that they could fill this position, Deborah has an efficient system in place which you could continue to use but would be free to adapt to your own style
The position of secretary is vital to run a club and we cannot run without one.
It may be possible to break the role into two with us reverting to a Membership Secretary as well.
Remember nobody is born a committee member we have to learn and muddle through, so please think about giving it a try.

Events
